Meet the Physicians

Dr. Jim grew up in Birmingham.  He earned his undergraduate degree at Birmingham-Southern College, and his medical degree at The University of Alabama School of Medicine.  He completed his residency at The University of Mississippi Medical Center.  He and his wife Pam have three children.  He is an active member in his church, St. Francis University Parish.  In his free time, he enjoys cycling, hunting, and spending time with his family.  He is the brother of the late Dr. Michael G. Poist.  Dr. Mike practiced with the group from 1991-2003. 

Dr. Mentel, a New Orleans, Louisiana native, completed his undergraduate coursework with degrees at The University of Alabama and University of Alabama-Birmingham.  He finished medical school at Louisiana State University in New Orleans and then successfully completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of Florida in Jacksonville.  He recently completed the 2009 and 2010 years as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at DCH.  In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and children on Lake Tuscaloosa and attending University of Alabama football games

Dr. Green is from Remlap, Alabama. She completed her undergraduate degree at Birmingham-Southern College. Dr. Green attended medical school and residency at The University of Alabama in Birmingham. She is married to Matthew, and they have four children. Her family attends First United Methodist Church. She and her family enjoy sports, hiking, horseback riding, and going to the beach. Dr. Green has been with the practice since graduating residency in 2006.
